These scientists are studying the effects of vampire blood on werewolf cells. Suspended upside down in a coffin full of blood-filled water, Selene is restrained inside the facility's high-security dungeon with only minutes to escape before she drowns. Meanwhile, Michael (Theo James) and Eve (India Eisley) lead the surviving lycans to a safe haven in Alaska. The group is led by Lucian (Michael Epps), who distrusts humans and resents the vampires for his life as a "half-breed". The lycans begin plotting retaliation against the vampire leader, Kraven (Shane Brolly), who they believe is responsible for the recent murders of their kind.Lena awakens Selene in order to learn more about her vampire origins; however, Selene chooses to escape instead. Lena follows her and after a fight in which both sustain significant injuries, Selene frees herself and leaves Lena behind. Selene meets a werewolf named Viktor (Ian Somerhalder), who guides her to a secret lycan safe haven. Meanwhile, Eve and Michael find an old monastery and decide to make it their new base of operations.The lycans attempt to take back the monastery, but are helped by Michael and Eve. Due to Selene's arrival, they allow her entry into the compound.
